Cambodia solar lights for home use

Currently, Cambodia's solar energy production and supply capacity stands at approximately 64.77 Megawatts. However, Cambodian households and private enterprises are increasingly investing in photovoltaic systems as an alternative power source.

UNDP's Beresford highlighted difficulties with regulations. For example, feed-in tariffs are not permitted in Cambodia – these are small payments made to households or businesses who generate their own clean electricity and feed it into the grid. There are also strict regulations on rooftop solar panels.

In the middle of Cambodia, including the load center of Phnom Penh, which is responsible for approximately 70% of national electricity demand, the peak solar resource measures over 1,900 kWh per square meter per year. Solar is also a good option for remote rural households that do not currently have access to the grid.

It also has three sea ports and a healthy logistical network. These make it possible to import or export solar products whenever the need arises.
