In this work, a new battery thermal management system (BTMS) utilizing a SF33-based liquid immersion cooling (LIC) scheme has been proposed. Firstly, the comparative investigation focuses on the temperature response of the LIC and forced air cooling (FAC) modules in different scenarios.
A figure of merit is proposed to guide the selection and development of EFLs in immersion cooling. Importance of EFL thermal properties for its immersion cooling is quantitatively analyzed. Temperature increase results in a higher weightage of dynamic viscosity on EFL performance.
Furthermore, the implementation of fluorinated liquid, which exhibits excellent flame resistance, contributes to enhanced safety under extreme conditions . To demonstrate the efficacy of LIC with fluorinated liquid, van Gils et al. immersed a single LIB in the liquid and utilized pool boiling as the cooling mechanism.
