The cost of an energy storage system widely varies depending on the technology and scale, but to provide a general sense, the average cost for lithium-ion batteries, which are commonly used, has significantly decreased over the years. As of recent figures, the cost hovers around R2,470 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
Essentially, these intelligent household energy storage systems convert excess AC power into DC power and store it within high-capacity batteries, ready to be transformed back into AC power on demand.
