Grid-connected PV inverters have traditionally been thought as active power sources with an emphasis on maximizing power extraction from the PV modules. While maximizing power transfer remains a top priority, utility grid stability is now widely acknowledged to benefit from several auxiliary services that grid-connected PV inverters may offer.
This paper presents the development of a multi-input multi-output bi-directional power converter (MIMO-BDPC) with a digital pulse-width modulation (DPWM) controller for solar photovoltaic (SVP) application. The converter is operated in three modes such as buck, boost, and inverter.
Fig. 2 represents the PV array-based bidirectional battery electric vehicle charger connected to the grid system. It involves of a PV array, battery of EVs, a DC–DC converter and bidirectional inverters connected to an AC grid. The bidirectional inverter handles the transfer of power between the battery and the AC grid.
This paper proposes a hybrid control strategies for a photovoltaic (PV) grid-connected system with a bidirectional battery electric vehicle (BEV) charger to manage power flow according to energy requirements. The system switches between PV supply, grid supply, and BEV battery supply modes to ensure load demand fulfilment.
However, these methods may require accurate modelling and may have higher implementation complexity. Emerging and future trends in control strategies for photovoltaic (PV) grid-connected inverters are driven by the need for increased efficiency, grid integration, flexibility, and sustainability.
